I’ll be interning Friday’s at Brosel Design in San Marcos. I may go in more during the week, but with the workload from school, who knows.

This looks like a great opportunity and hopefully all goes well. It looks like it will. The Owner is super down to earth and awesome for giving me this chance to learn what it’s like in a working studio.

Shawn Wolfe at subtext

So on Friday my friend Jeff and I went to Shawn Wolfe’s opening at subtext. I was impressed, some really fun stuff. You can find out more abut the show and the artist here.

Downstairs was packed and hard to navigate but I managed to get a good look at everything. Upstairs, Stone Pale Ale was poured and the good times ensued. The band was pumping out some great tunes although they were lacking a bass player, they managed to pull it off. I also ran into some classmates which was a pleasant surprise. I let them know about a studio tour I’m trying to get for our AIGA student group, they all seemed stoked about that. More on that later.

I am starting to realize the importance of these events, getting to talk to local designers and artists outside of a professional setting and getting to pick their brains a little. Gotta stay active in the design community, right?

So this is the first post. I am embarking on a quest to chronicle my life as a design student as I make the transition to the business world of Graphic Design. So with that said, I have a ton of homework to dig into right now, which is usually the case on the weekend. I am in three classes this semester, and bam! I Graduate. Ready to take on the world? I’m working on that. It’s a little scary, okay a lot scary. But hopefully through my work and some networking, I’ll find a place I can fit in. That’s it for right now. Gotta hit the sketchbook.
